The next edition of the Transport Research Arena (TRA) will take place in Budapest from 18 to 21 May 2026. Every two years, TRA, Europe’s leading event for transport research and innovation, brings together all the stakeholders shaping the mobility of tomorrow: policymakers, researchers, infrastructure managers, operators, industry representatives and international organisations.
In a context characterised by the climate emergency, digital transformation and evolving societal expectations, TRA 2026 will provide a unique platform to discuss concrete solutions for a more sustainable, safe and inclusive transport system. Discussions will focus in particular on decarbonisation, intermodality, infrastructure resilience, automation and the growing role of data in enhancing operational efficiency.
UIC welcomes the fact that this latest edition will be held in Hungary and wishes to highlight the strong commitment of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV), a national exhibitor at the conference. Through its active involvement, MÁV is helping to mobilise the transport and rail ecosystem in Central Europe and to reinforce the place of rail at the heart of debates on the future of mobility.
As a long-standing supporter of the TRA conference series, UIC reaffirms its full commitment to the 2026 edition. UIC Director General François Davenne has confirmed his strong interest in the event and fully intends to attend. The event will also provide an opportunity for UIC to showcase some of the research projects from its portfolio.
TRA 2026 will be a unique opportunity to strengthen cooperation between research, industry and decision-makers, and to showcase the innovations that will transform European mobility.
